Introduction
In the PSHRE department, our intent is to ENRICH our students by providing them with a rich knowledge in personal, social, health and relationship education. The philosophy of the PSHRE department is that pupils should be equipped with the knowledge and skills that are required for the wider world. Within this subject we will explore not just issues and challenges in our own lives but those we face as a community and society. In addition, we also explore citizenship. Our course is specifically tailored to our pupils to ensure that they are ready for the world in which they live in.
Key Stage Three
In Key Stage 3, students have one forty-five-minute lesson per week. During these lessons’ pupils will study a variety of subjects both from the PSHRE curriculum (see KS3 2024-2025 curriculum map) and the Citizenship national curriculum. The lessons that are studied in KS3 provide a foundation for KS4 lessons.
Key Stage Four
At Key Stage 4, students have one forty-five minute lesson per week. The curriculum follows on from the KS3 curriculum and students study aspects of both the PSHRE curriculum and the Citizenship National curriculum (see KS4 2024-2025 curriculum maps). More importantly during Year 11 PSHRE lessons students will have assemblies from prospectus colleges and will conduct lessons and workshops on how to apply for colleges and how to write personal statements.
